For non-rostered students accessing our products via Single Sign On for the first time, they will now be able to link their EL account to their SSO ID, whether they have a class code or not.

*Students will only go through this process once to initially link their school-based SSO ID to an EL account. Subsequent logins will take the student directly to a product or a product selection page (if they have multiple product subscriptions).

SSO Linking

  • The SSO linking screen will be used by all students, prompting them to enter a username

    • Students will now see a single prompt to enter a “username” value.

  • Rostered students who use SSO will still not have class codes.

Student Redeeming Class Code

  • “Have a Class Code?” will be the link for a student to click to redeem a class code from the SSO linking screen.

    • Students will be redirected to the same class code page non-SSO students use.

    • Students will have to use the browser “back” button or close out and re-open EL through their LMS to return back the initial linking screen page.

  • Upon providing a valid class code, the student will be prompted to create a new account or log in with an existing account.

Existing Student Account

If a student has an existing Gizmos account, they can log in with their username and password to join the class.

  • Entering their username & their password

    • If a student has an account but cannot remember their username/password, they click “Back” and choose to create a new account.

    • If a student created a new account previously but cannot remember their username/password, they can contact their teacher, who can then provide them with that information from the class roster, or

    • They can click on “Create an Account” located under the username/password fields.

  • If a student successfully logs in with their account, they will see a notification indicating they have been added to the class.

    • The student’s SSO ID will now be linked to this account for future direct product access via SSO.

Create New Student Account

When a student clicks to create a new Gizmos account:

  • The student will be prompted to enter their first name, last name, grade, username, and password for this new account.

  • Username must be unique across all EL accounts.

  • After providing the required information, the student will click “Next” which will then create a new account and add that student to the class roster.

    • The student’s SSO ID will now be linked to this account for future direct product access via SSO.

After a student has gone through the process of linking their EL account to their SSO ID, all future logins will take the student directly into Gizmos.
