Add a Class
There are two ways to add a class.
From your Teacher Dashboard, select New Class. Enter the class' name and if you wish to add any additional teachers or "co-teachers" to that class. Select Add Class to save the new class.
Classes can be created manually, even in rostered districts. They can include any student already on the school roster.
From any current class, you can click on the down arrow next to the name of your current class, scroll to the bottom of the list of classes, and select Add Class.
Deleting a class
To delete a class, follow these steps:
From your Teacher Dashboard, select a class in the right panel. The name of your current class will appear in blue near the top of the page.
Select Settings.
Click on Delete Class and confirm.
Please note this only applies to non-auto-rostered classes. Old classes created outside of the rostering sync and manual classes can still be deleted using these steps.
Please note: Deleting a class does not delete students. Their progress will be maintained in all programs other than Gizmos, as progress there is linked to the specific class.
Students who are not enrolled in an active class cannot log in.
Renaming a Class
Managing class names in Gizmos depends on whether your classes are rostered through an external system or are manually created. If a class is rostered, its name and details are managed by an external rostering system and cannot be edited directly in Gizmos. Non-rostered classes, however, can be renamed directly within the Gizmos interface.
From your Teacher dashboard, select a class in the right panel.
Select Settings.
Click on the text line with the name of the Class to edit.
Select Update Settings to save the new name.
Please note this only applies to non-auto-rostered classes.
Rostered classes can be identified by a double-arrow sync icon, indicating that their details are locked for editing in Gizmos.
Updates to rostered class names must be made in the external rostering platform by your school's IT or administration team.
For non-rostered classes, use the "Settings" menu to rename and save using the Gizmos interface.
Please note: Teachers must coordinate with their IT or admin teams for changes to rostered class names, as these updates occur through the rostering system's sync process, often overnight.
FAQs Q: Why is the "Settings" option missing for my class?
This typically indicates that the class is rostered and managed by an external rostering system. Only non-rostered classes have this option available.
Q: How can I tell if a class is rostered?
Look for a double-arrow sync icon next to the class name in your dashboard.
Q: Can I rename manually created classes?
Yes, you can rename manually created classes by using the steps detailed above.
