Lesson Materials

Every Gizmo includes a comprehensive set of instructional materials. These materials can be used as-is in a PDF format or customized in a Word document. The materials consist of the following components:

  • Teacher Guide provides detailed lesson information for using the Gizmo in instruction. Each guide includes learning objectives, vocabulary relevant to the lesson, a lesson overview, suggested lesson sequence, mathematical or scientific background, and selected web resources

  • Student Exploration Sheet guides students through scaffolded lessons that encourage inquiry and exploration. Each guide includes vocabulary, prior knowledge questions, a Gizmo warm-up, and multiple activities to choose from. It is also available as a Google Doc

  • Student Exploration Answer Key: Exclusively for teachers

  • Vocabulary Sheet: Presents key language and concepts from the lesson

Teachers have access to all the materials, while students can access the Student Exploration and Vocabulary Sheets only.

Accessing Lesson Materials

Lesson Materials can be found on the Gizmo Lesson Info Page. This page serves as the default landing page when you select a Gizmo from a list or search. Once you launch a Gizmo, the materials remain accessible from the Lesson Info Menu in the top navigation bar. You can open documents in a separate tab or window to keep the Gizmo open.

All Lesson Materials are available for viewing, printing, or downloading in either PDF or Word format. If you want to edit the materials, choose the Word document. This feature is useful for customizing Student Exploration Sheets by including specific activities or adding your own. Additionally, teachers can download lessons created by others through the community features on the website.
